If you learning the katakana and are looking for some good video’s in this space – the Japanesepod101 for ‘Learn ALL Katakana in 1 Hour’ is a quick and memorable way to get these stuck in the brain. I’m aware this is mainly used for borrowed words or onomatopoeia – but seriously, another 46 kana! Anyhow – its now been too challenging to get this done.
Over the last week or so I stumbled across the word (and background) yokai (妖怪) – which has led me on an interesting journey relating to Japanese folklore and even links to a trend online to reference amabie for protection.
Learning with Anime
Seems this question is asked really frequently – and it does seem like a massive challenge if this is your planned strategy to learn a new language. I found this super interesting site by Sarah Moon (Sailor Moon) (who is a professional translator) that is really informative and also has a kind of learn/watch walkthrough of an episode of anime. So you get to see how each scene and dialogue works grammatically.
